2012년 그래미 힙합 앨범을 수상하는 등 매시브 히트를 기록한 데뷔 앨범 The Heist 이후, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis가 새 싱글을 들고 왔습니다. Growing Up이라는 제목의 이번 곡은 그들의 개인적인 감정을 분출하는 것에 목표를 두었다고 밝혔습니다. 지난 앨범 싱글컷 곡이었던 Thrift Shop처럼 신나는 파티곡이 아닌, 지난 5월 태어난 Macklemore의 딸 Sloane을 위한 따뜻한 분위기를 품고 있습니다. 또한 코러스를 위해 Ed Sheeran도 참여한게 특징입니다. 너무 말랑말랑하다, 그들의 곡같지 않다는 일부 해외 팬들의 불만도 보입니다. 하지만 저는 이 곡이 칸예 웨스트의 Only One과 비슷한 포지션이라고 생각하고 평소의 개성과 다른 곡을 들어서 좋았습니다. 아무리 개성 넘치는 힙합퍼일지라도 자식 앞에선 전부 무장해제되나 봅니다.
